First Cuckoo of the Year at Tsukudajima
'First Cuckoo of the Year at Tsukudajima' is a print from Hiroshige's lauded series, 'One Hundred Famous Views of Edo.' This series, beloved for its exploration of landscape, is a sublime example of the Japanese ukiyo-e style, prevalent in the 19th century. Each print was initially published between 1856 and 1859 in serialized form, with Hiroshige's successor aptly named Hiroshige II, completing the collection posthumously. The 'First Cuckoo of the Year at Tsukudajima' print, like many others in the series, continues to enjoy great popularity and frequent reproductions.
