The painting titled 'Young woman with a pink shoe (Portrait of Berthe Morisot)' is an 1872 oil on canvas masterpiece by Édouard Manet, a preeminent figure in the development of Impressionism. Serving as a portrait of fellow painter Berthe Morisot, it offers a subdued yet compelling depiction of the subject in a black mourning dress, clutching a barely discernible bouquet of violets. Other titles associated with the painting include 'Berthe Morisot with a Bouquet of Violets' and 'Berthe Morisot in a black hat'. Today, this praised piece of art history is held in the collection of the Musée d'Orsay in Paris. This masterpiece also inspired Manet to create an etching and two lithographs of the same composition using a similar oil-based technique.
