The House at Rueil, a pair of oil-on-canvas paintings by Édouard Manet, portray a charming house where Manet and his family resided in 1882, shortly before his passing. Although they are almost mirror images, one is landscaped and the other is arranged in a portrait format. The landscape version is housed in Berlin's Alte Nationalgalerie, and the portrait-style painting is located in the National Gallery of Victoria in Melbourne. Emblematic of the Impressionism movement, these paintings are unique interpretations of the cityscape, and have greatly influenced numerous artists in the 20th century.
