Sleeping Girl

Sleeping Girl is a 1964 Pop art painting by Roy Lichtenstein that combines oil and Magna on canvas to depict a serene, stylized portrait of a young woman. This work exemplifies Lichtenstein’s signature use of bold lines and vibrant Ben-Day dots, echoing comic book aesthetics. As a notable portrait, it captures a quiet, introspective moment, blending commercial imagery with fine art. From May 2012 to May 2013, Sleeping Girl held the record for the highest auction price for a Lichtenstein, underscoring its significance within the pop art movement and contemporary art market.
