The Raising of Lazarus is a notable religious painting created between 1517 and 1519 by Italian artist Sebastiano del Piombo. This High renaissance work was originally an altarpiece for Narbonne Cathedral in France and is now housed in Room 18 of the National Gallery in London. It features figures partly conceived with drawings by Michelangelo, illustrating the biblical miracle of Jesus bringing Lazarus back to life. The painting is executed in oil paints, which contribute to its luminous quality and rich detail, exemplifying the mastery of the High renaissance style.
