"Tiger and Lion Hunting," a notable Baroque painting by Peter Paul Rubens created between 1615 and 1616, vividly captures the dynamic drama of a hunt featuring a tiger. Commissioned by Maximilian I, Elector of Bavaria, it is part of a series of four hunting paintings intended to adorn the old Schleissheim Palace. The work exemplifies genre painting through its detailed depiction of animal capture and human prowess. Seized during the Napoleonic Wars, this large canvas now resides in the Musée des Beaux-Arts de Rennes.
