11. Skull with Pipe 2017 by Anthony D. Padgett (after Skull with Burning Cigarette by Van Gogh Antwerp 1885)

"Skull with Pipe 2017" by Anthony D. Padgett is a symbolic painting inspired by Van Gogh's 1885 work "Skull with Burning Cigarette." Rendered in oil, Padgett revisits Post-impressionism's vibrant brushwork while infusing it with contemporary meaning. The painting features a skull, a classic memento mori, holding a pipe, emphasizing mortality and human fragility. Through this reinterpretation, Padgett bridges historical Post-impressionism with modern symbolism, creating a thought-provoking piece that invites reflection on life's transient nature.
