"Poplars On The Banks Of The River Epte" by Claude Monet is a quintessential example of his Impressionism style, capturing the fleeting effects of light and atmosphere in a serene Landscape setting. Painted in 1891, Monet depicted a row of tall poplars along the riverbank near Giverny, where he had a floating studio that allowed him to observe and portray the natural scene from a boat. The trees follow an elegant S-curve, and Monet's loose brushwork captures their rhythm and movement. Interestingly, the trees initially belonged to the commune of Limetz and were auctioned off before Monet completed his series; he ended up purchasing them himself, reflecting his deep engagement with the natural Landscape he loved to depict.
