Awaiting

"Awaiting" by Georgi Kovachev (1987; Bulgaria) embodies the emotional depth and raw intensity characteristic of Expressionism. Kovachev, renowned for his figurative style, employs bold techniques and dynamic brushwork to evoke a sense of anticipation or pause, as suggested by the title. The artwork’s composition and expressive use of color capture a moment suspended in time, inviting viewers to contemplate what is to come. As a piece rooted in late 20th-century Bulgarian art, it underscores Kovachev’s mastery in blending emotional expression with figurative representation, creating a compelling visual narrative centered around the theme of waiting.
