"Study for the Sforza Monument" is a preparatory sketch and study by Leonardo da Vinci, conceptualizing his ambitious design for a bronze equestrian statue commissioned by Duke Ludovico il Moro in 1482. Although intended to honor Francesco Sforza, the project was never realized, with Leonardo producing only a large clay model that was later destroyed. Reflecting Leonardo's mastery during the High renaissance period, this work exemplifies his meticulous preparatory approach to sculpture and his innovative ideas for monumentality.
