'The Knight with his hand on his breast' is a striking portrait by Spanish Renaissance artist Dominikos Theotokópoulos, popularly known as El Greco. The painting is a remarkable example of Mannerism (late renaissance), capturing the subject with a highly stylized pose and dramatic intensity. The knight is depicted on a canvas, his hand placed solemnly on his breast, his gaze contemplative and inward-looking. The expressive use of oil paint, imbues the artwork with rich, deep tones and a palpable sense of emotion. This powerful portrait is said to have inspired the 1998 classical album 'El Greco' by Greek electronic composer, Vangelis.
