St. Jerome
'St. Jerome' is a masterpiece by Doménikos Theotokópoulos, better known as El Greco, a celebrated Greek artist and architect from the Spanish Renaissance. He was renowned for his distinctive style, characterized by elements of Mannerism (late renaissance). El Greco executed the 'St. Jerome' painting primarily using oil paint on canvas, enhancing the image's depth and texture. This work is an excellent example of a religious painting, reflecting his profound spirituality. As with most of his pieces, El Greco signed the painting in Greek letters, often adding "Κρής," indicating his Cretan origin.
