It was commissioned by Cardinal Alessandro Farnese and became a part of the renowned Farnese collection. Later, in 1734, the portrait was inherited by Charles of Bourbon, who transported it to Naples. Today, this remarkable depiction of the miniaturist, Giulio Clovio, can be viewed at the Museo di Capodimonte in Naples.
