The artwork titled Ill-Matched Marriage (The Marriage Contract) is an oil panel painting attributed to a follower of Quentin Matsys, created circa 1525–1530 during the Northern renaissance. This genre painting depicts a satirical scene of a marriage arranged for financial gain between an old man and a young woman, highlighting the social tensions of such unions. Believed to be inspired by a lost drawing by Leonardo da Vinci, the work combines moral commentary with detailed realism.
