Study for Crouching Nude is an oil painting on canvas by Irish-born artist Francis Bacon, created in spring 1952. The figurative figurative work depicts a crouching figure inspired by Eadweard Muybridge's motion studies, capturing a sense of tension and vulnerability. Influenced by Expressionism, Bacon’s style emphasizes raw emotion and distorted forms. The piece was exhibited at Recent Trends in Realist Painting in London, replacing his earlier Study for Portrait. Currently, it is held at the Detroit Institute of Arts.
