The Judgement of Solomon

Luca Giordano’s The Judgement of Solomon exemplifies his mastery within the Baroque style, blending dramatic action, luminous color, and dynamic movement. This religious painting depicts the biblical story of King Solomon's wise decision to split a disputed baby between two women, illustrating divine wisdom and justice. Giordano’s vibrant palette and theatrical composition reflect his departure from the darker manner of early Neapolitan art, inspired by Venetian and Italian masters. His innovative approach created a highly expressive work that captures the viewer’s attention and exemplifies the intensity characteristic of the Baroque era.
