"Searching for Fleas," also known as Woman Searching for Fleas or The Flea, is a lively genre painting created between 1710 and 1730 by Giuseppe Maria Crespi, a prominent Baroque artist from Bologna. The oil on copper depicts a humorous domestic scene of a woman inspecting her bed for fleas, capturing everyday life with vivid realism and subtle humor characteristic of the period. The principal version resides in the Uffizi Gallery in Florence, while variants, including one at the Museo nazionale di palazzo Reale in Pisa, also originate from the Grand Dukes of Tuscany’s Guardaroba.
