The Kapellbrücke in Lucerne is an iconic cityscape feature and a testament to medieval engineering, spanning the Reuss River with its historic wooden structure. Named after nearby St. Peter's Chapel, this romantic bridge is distinguished by its interior paintings from the 17th century, which depict local history and legends. Despite suffering a devastating fire in 1993 that destroyed many artworks and parts of the bridge, it was carefully restored, reaffirming its status as the oldest wooden covered bridge in Europe and the world's oldest surviving truss bridge. Today, the Kapellbrücke remains a beloved symbol of Lucerne and a major tourist attraction.
